Code of Conduct
The Scottish Startup Hub Code of Conduct applies to all affiliated meetups, groups, and events.
Our Commitment
We’re building a startup ecosystem where everyone—no matter their background, identity, or experience level—feels welcome, respected, and supported. Whether you’re attending an event, contributing online, mentoring, or just getting started, this community thrives when we all show up with curiosity, generosity, and kindness.
We Expect Everyone to
Treat others with respect. No harassment, discrimination, or condescension—online or in person.
Welcome diverse perspectives. Different experiences and ideas make our community stronger.
Communicate constructively. Give feedback with care. Assume good intentions. Disagree without being disagreeable.
Include, not exclude. Avoid cliques and inside jokes that leave others out. Be the reason someone feels they belong.
Respect boundaries and time. Don’t pressure others for contacts, funding, or free labor. Value each other’s energy.
Own your impact. If someone tells you your words or actions hurt them, listen. You don’t have to be wrong to make something right.
We Do Not Tolerate
Harassment or bullying of any kind
Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise exclusionary behaviour or language
Disrespectful, aggressive, or dominating behaviour in discussions
Unwanted promotion or persistent solicitation
Violations of personal space, privacy, or consent—verbal, physical, or digital
If You Experience or Witness Harmful Behaviour
Please speak up. You can contact an organiser or message us privately. We’ll take concerns seriously and handle reports with care and confidentiality. We reserve the right to remove participants who don’t uphold this code—from events, groups, and platforms.
This Community Belongs to All of Us
We’re here to build meaningful things—but more importantly, we’re here to build each other up. That starts with how we show up. Let’s keep this a place where people are proud to participate.
